1 Welcome! September 29, 2017 3.2 Homework Quiz 3.3 Homework Questions??
I can put together all transformations of function graphs to interpret quadratic functions written in vertex form. 3.2 Homework Quiz 3.3 Homework Questions?? 3.4 ~ Getting from here to there Brain Break Homework: at the end of class!

2 Let’s review characteristics of quadratics
What is the vertex? What is the axis of symmetry? How do you write the equation for it? What are the zeroes?

3 Let’s review characteristics of quadratics
What is the vertex? The minimum or maximum value. The vertex is a coordinate point (x,y) What is the axis of symmetry? How do you write the equation for it? The axis of symmetry is in the form x=# because it is a vertical line. What are the zeroes? The x-intercepts of the graph. The zeroes are written in the form ( #, 0)

4 Problem 3.4 A Describe each transformation before graphing. Then, graph each function using your graphing calculator to verify your descriptions. Identify the maximum or minimum (coordinate point) and find the line of symmetry (equation).

5 Problem 3.4 B Describe each transformation before graphing. Then, graph each function using your graphing calculator to verify your descriptions. Identify the maximum or minimum (coordinate point) and find the line of symmetry (equation).

6 3.4 Part D When you finish, as a group discuss the relationship of the minimum/maximum point, along with the equation. What can you say about the vertex and the equation?
