8 In a recent study at Purdue University, it was shown that the return on investment (ROI) for investing in job skills training programs for people living below the poverty line is approximately 5:1. That means for every one dollar invested, you can expect a return of five dollars. How is this money generated? When you train people who are currently receiving government assistance, they can get jobs and stop needing those payments. In addition, they begin paying income taxes, sales taxes, and property taxes as income rises and property is purchased. In the News
