Lassa Fever: Nigeria
From 1 January 2018 to 15 April 2018:
1,865 suspected cases including
114 deaths
Of the total cases reported
Confirmed cases including 105 deaths Probable - 9
1 sample pending
CFR in confirmed cases is 25%
21 states have reported at least one confirmed case across 70 LGAs
81% of confirmed cases are from Edo state
A total of 4,908 contacts
420 (8.6%) are currently being followed up,
4,476 (91.2%) have completed 21 days
7(0.2%) were lost to follow
78 symptomatic contacts of whom 28 (36%) have tested positive
Thirty-seven healthcare workers have been affected

5. Cholera: Zimbabwe
The outbreak of cholera in the suburbs of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe, continues.
Since 23 March 2018:
36 suspected cases with three deaths (CFR - 8.3%) have been reported

Epidemic curve for cholera outbreak in Harare, Zimbabwe, 22 March – 20 April 2018
Active surveillance is ongoing in the health facilities and communities,
including tracing for persons who attended funerals of the deceased.
All suspected cases had samples taken for laboratory testing. Line lists
of cases and deaths are being updated daily. Healthcare workers have
been sensitized to enhance early detection of cholera cases at the health
facilities.
Social mobilization is taking place and information, education and
communication (IEC) materials are being distributed, as well as door to
door visits, education campaigns and road shows.
WHO was formally notified of the cholera outbreak in Harare on 7 April 2018 (by the Ministry of Health) following the death of the index case on 5 April 2018 and subsequent confirmation of Vibrio cholerae serotype Ogawa as the causative agent on 6 April 2018

6. Cholera: Congo
Geographical distribution of cholera cases, Congo, 18 March – 19 April 2018
On 18 March 2018: Congo has been experiencing a new outbreak of cholera.
On 22 March 2018: the Congo MoH reported a suspected cholera outbreak in Likouala Department north of the Country
As of 19 April 2018:
of 46 cases including 2 deaths (CFR – 4.4%)
A total of six stool were obtained and shipped to the LNSP in Brazzaville for testing
The three stool samples were tested
positive for Vibrio cholerae serogroup 01 on
rapid diagnostic test (RDT)
PUBLIC HEALTH ACTIONS
National rapid response teams have been deployed
IEC materials on cholera
Active surveillance is ongoing in the health facilities and communities

From 1 January 2017 –April 15, 2018:
60,492 cases including 1,288 deaths (CFR; 2.1%) have been reported
Measles: DRC
This is an ongoing outbreak since the beginning of 2017.
As of week 16 in 2018:
48,326 cases including
563 deaths (CFR 1.2%)
Since 2018:
3,404 cases including
30 deaths (0.9%) were reported.
