1 Chapter 4 Lesson 2: Circuits 4th Grade Science p22-27

2 Vocabulary Circuit Current
A path charged particles can flow to produce electricity. Current A flow of charged particles, such as electrons, moving through a circuit.

3 Electrical Symbols Battery Bulb Resistor Switch

4 Vocabulary Series circuit Parallel circuit
A circuit in which there is only one path for the electrons to take Parallel circuit A circuit with more than one path for electricity

5 Vocabulary Open circuit Closed circuit A current containing a gap
A circuit that has no gap in the path for the current.

6 Vocabulary Conductor Insulator
A material through which electricity flows easily. Insulator A material through which heat or electricity does not flow easily.

7 Activity Question – What objects conduct electricity? Hypothesis –
Conductive Insulator Shiny Nail Dull Nail Straw Sponge Black Rock Pebble Metal Screen Brass Fastener Paper Clip Copper Screw Yarn Cardboard Wood Stick Washer Aluminum Foil Activity Question – What objects conduct electricity? Hypothesis – Supplies – Conclusion –

8 How is Lighting Produced?
