2 Background January 2013 – contact made with YDH regarding live music
Timely - recognition of value Complemented the Arts Co-ordinator role As a result a programme of regular music was developed Timely contact from RM asking about potential to play live music on the ward. Fitted with the ethos and burgeoning realisation that hospital care is wider than medical treatment/awareness of importance of therapeutic environment

4 Project delivery Project aimed at patients with dementia
Introduced the music and discussion Played the clarinet Familiar music & requests Performed on 4 wards once a week

5 Formed a link with music in hospitals
Introduced a variety of different artists Numbers reached – around 2000 patients 150 performances 30 different musicians from Music in Hospitals and Yeovil College

12 What have we learned Interaction around the music is as important as the music Not just a pink and fluffy thing Not disruptive Risks are worth taking Evaluation needed to be more robust Project evolution is essential
