ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Have the PCB in front of you as shown. Make sure there are no copper tracks showing. This side is called the component side.

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Insert the resistors R1 and R2. These can be either way round. Try to ensure they sit as close to the board as possible

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Next insert the diode making sure it is the correct way round. The cathode should face right.

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Insert the IC holder ensuring that the notch is facing upwards as shown.

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER The buzzer must be inserted with the positive pin at the top. This should be the longer pin of the two.

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Next insert the two 10uF capacitors. These are polarised, the longer leg being positive. Note the stripe on the side of the capacitor denoting the negative connection.

ASSEMBLING THE TIMER Finally add the timing components VR1 and C3. Again make sure the capacitor is the correct way round. The values can be calculated by the formula: time = 1.1 x C x VR

TESTING When you have added the battery clip and the LED, you can test your circuit. Use VR1 to adjust the time it takes for the buzzer to sound after switching on the circuit. Turning it clockwise will increase the time delay.
