3. LGSETA is grateful to SAESI and the sector for continued support
SAESI & Sector assisted LGSETA develop the ff qualifications:
Fire & Rescue (NQF L4) and Fire & Rescue Operations (NQF L5) quals
Fire Fighter occupational qualification (SAQA Id
- the qual was registered on the NQF on the 29/09/2016
- the qual has 149 credits and is pegged at NQF L4
The qualification is registered as learnership with DHET
SDP are encouraged to apply for accreditation for this qualification at QCTO

4. Partnership with SAESI
The LGSETA & SAESI approved as Assessment Quality Partner by QCTO
The AQP is responsible for the setting up of assessment centres
Administering the external integrated summative assessment (EISA) – consistency in assessment
SAESI will establish centres in NC, GP & KZN
SDP wishes to be accredited as assessment centres/ sites may apply to the QCTO

5. Criteria for qualifying for the EISA Competency against
- knowledge, practical and workplace module (3 SORs)

LGSETA is partnering with SAESI on a RPL project
Developing the RPL toolkit
Once toolkit is ready, and it will be made available to QCTO accredited SDP

6. Transitional arrangements
All qualifications registered on the NQF are going to fall off the NQF on the 30 June 2018
The Fire and Recue qualification will be replaced by the firefighter qualifications
Learners can only be registered for the legacy qualification until June 2019
There will be a teach out period N+2
Qualifications must be re-aligned or new occupational qualifications must be developed
The sector needs to make a decision on the L5 qual ???
