1 Bowfin (Amia Calva) The bowfin is considered a large fish but it really isn’t that big. It is 2-3 ft long and weighs pounds.

2 What dose the bowfin look like?
The bowfin looks like an eel with long fins.

3 Where do they live? Bowfins are found in eastern United states usually in sloughs and back waters east of the Mississippi basin and from Minnesota through the great lakes, south to the gulf of Mexico. The enjoy warm, stagnent water they also enjoy clear water with lots of vegetation. They are tolerant of silk, mud and higher temperatures.

5 What do they eat? Bowfins are predators feeding on other fish.

7 Just for FUN! The bowfins are like a sport fish. They are famous to be hard hitting, but an excellent fighter. The dorsal fin is long, extending more than half the length of the back, and contains more than 45 rays. They are a olive green color.
