Everyone seemed to have friends. Everyone except Willy.

No one let him join in any games; they all said he was useless.

- One day Willy was walking in the park…minding his own business…and Hugh jape was running.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” said Hugh.
Willy was amazed, “But I’m sorry,” he said. “I wasn’t watching where I was going.” “No, it was my fault,” said Hugh. “I wasn’t Looking where I was going. I’m sorry.” Hugh helped Willy to his feet.

They sat down on a bench and watched the joggers. “Looks like they’re really enjoying themselves,” said Hugh. Willy laughed.

Buster Nose appeared. “I’ve been looking for you, little wimp,” he sneered.

Hugh stood up. “Can I be of any help?” he asked.
Buster left. Very quickly.

Musical stop and share Everyone stands in two circles - the people on the inside need to face out, the people on the inside face in. When the music goes, the circles walk in opposite directions. When the music stops – discuss the question on the powerpoint with your partner!

Musical stop and share How do people make up with a friend after a fight? Why do friendships sometimes break-up? Can a person still be your friend if they move a long way away from you? How many friends can a person have? Should you tell a friend something they need to be told which may hurt them? How do you say ‘no’ to a friend?

Make up and complete a fact sheet about a friend and check for accuracy
For example: Liked / hated foods / music / sports / TV shows Names and ages of brothers / sisters / pets Birthday / last holiday / career aspirations / best and worst skills

What would you say and do in the following situations?
Your friend is unusually quiet but insists there is nothing wrong. Your friend’s dog is killed by a truck. Your friend’s parents split up. Your friend’s father loses his job. Your friend gets into trouble at school and is not allowed to go to anyone’s place for a while. You notice that your friend has a mark on their t-shirt that might embarrass them. Your friend begins to give another student a hard time and call them nasty names, even though they have done nothing wrong. You heard your friend telling a small lie.
