2 HOLY SPIRIT And His Gifts - part 2

3 Spiritual Gifts 12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:1–3

4 Spiritual Gifts 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4–7

5 Spiritual Gifts 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 1 Corinthians 12:8–11

6 Spiritual Gifts Utterance of Wisdom
“The “utterance of wisdom,” then, may represent the revelation of divine mysteries, based on insight into God’s purposes rather than on mere human reasoning.”

7 Spiritual Gifts Word of Knowledge
In context this gift is really the gift of teaching - because it is about imparting knowledge - more specifically about God.

8 Spiritual Gifts Faith Faith energizes all the gifts; God provides all Christians with faith to fulfill their function in Christ’s body. In this instance, however, Paul speaks of a particular endowment of faith, the sort that moves mountains.

9 Spiritual Gifts Gifts of Healing
The ability to pray for people who then are healed.

10 Spiritual Gifts 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Jas 5:13–18

11 Spiritual Gifts 13 You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first, 14 and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus. Ga 4:13–14 20 Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left Trophimus, who was ill, at Miletus. 2 Ti 4:20 23 (No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.) 1 Ti 5:23

12 Spiritual Gifts Working of Miracles
Different kinds of demonstrations of God’s power.

13 Spiritual Gifts Prophecy
Prophecy involves God speaking to or through a servant who listens to His voice.

14 Spiritual Gifts Discernment of Spirits
The gift of evaluating prophecy accurately. Another word, the ability to discern whether what is said is from the Lord.

15 Spiritual Gifts Tongues
The main recorded public function of tongues, like its private function, was prayer and praise.
