Comparison To understand the comparison BL F/L vs XM Material: Trainees textbook GDS Methods: Lecture Question Task Practice Lead over: Lets look at the smart key ECM and PDM main functions. Needed to compare conventional type and XM smart key (immobilizer) Conventional type Transponder is located in the end of smart key and antenna coil is located around key switch. XM smart key Transponder is located with PCB in smart key. LF antenna receive information of transponder and relay to PDM Comparison Contents PIC (GH Conventional type) PIC (TD – Start Button type) Smart key Limp home start (Emergency starting) transponder Control logic change compared with TD and HM 1) Engine status input changed : In case of TD (Cerato) all information related to engine starting transmitted using serial communication between SMK ECU and engine ECU but XM information related to authentication transmitted using serial communication and other engine status information (engine cranking, engine running, glow plug lamp ON/OFF) transmitted using CAN communication. (cluster module is gateway between power train CAN and body CAN, in GEN/EUR/NA market cluster module is not applied  same as TD communication) 2) Starting delay time controlled by PDM for glow plug operation (to enhance cold starting ability) is increased from 5sec to 6sec. (HM/TD : 5sec) 3) Starting trying time increased : when engine running signal is not transmitted to SMK ECU after PDM’s starting output then keep starting output for max. 25 sec.(time is different depending on engine coolant temp.) 17 Control Function – Pre-Authentication
To know how to diagnose and repair these systems. To understand the pre-authentication and 30 sec timer authentication Material: Trainees textbook Training vehicle (XM) Methods: Lecture Question Task Practice Lead over: Lets look at the smart key out warning (door is opening). In previous system (GH), upon pressing the Push knob switch, PIC module sends the release message to MSL after finding out the valid FOB. But it takes about 190ms and this makes the ‘blocking feeling’ while turning the rotary switch from ‘off’ to ‘ACC’ position. If door is closed, PIC module re-search the valid smart key inside cabin and the pre-authentication will be valid for 30s if it found. After that, PIC module does not search anymore. Within 30sec, if door is opened, PIC module try to find valid smart key every 3s. (Preparation for engine start in advance). To maintain ‘pre-authentication’, the valid smart key must be found every 3s. If not, ‘pre-authentication’ is cancelled. As soon as ACC position selected, this pre-authentication is cancelled. 30sec timer authentication - If is for staring engine at stopped engine during driving without smart key Control Function – Pre-Authentication Pre - Authentication : It is for engine start quickly. - Smart key ECM try to find registered smart key by antenna. If smart key is detected, maintain the authentication without detecting smart key again. 1. Driver side door is opening : Try to find smart key every 3seconds by antenna → Smart key is found (maintain authentication), Smart key isn’t found (cancel authentication) 2. Driver side door is closing : Try to find Smart key by antenna → Smart key is found (Maintain authentication during 30 seconds. Smart key ECM don’t try to find again 3. Press brake pedal : Try to find smart key by antenna → Smart key is found (Maintain authentication during 30 seconds.) 4. IG is OFF : Try to find smart key by antenna ※Pre-authentication isn’t related with immobilizer lamp
