We are a world leader, but not in a good way…

NSW’s five coal-fired power stations are aging and dirty.
They emit 300,000 tonnes of toxic pollution every year.
87% of Sydney’s sulphur dioxide pollution comes from coal-fired power stations.
Health costs from the four Hunter Valley power stations are estimated at $600 million per year.

8. METHODOLOGY
NCC synthesised 100% renewable energy studies from academia and industry: BZE, AEMO, UTS:ISF.
We forecast the make-up of clean energy sources based on the current development pipeline of 68 projects and previous least-cost studies and modelling.
We forecast the regional break-down of energy sources based on proposed projects, resources available and TransGrid identified precincts.

The rate of solar installs jumped up by 26% this year. Why? Because with grid prices going up, and solar prices going down, it’s getting more and more appealing to go solar. As we move from “early adopters” to solar becoming mainstream, and put in place agreements for tenants and small businesses, the solar revolution will continue until we run out of roof space.
