1 “What to Expect on Concert Day” Visual Support Board

2 Welcome to the McCoy Center!

3 After you purchase tickets or stop at WILL CALL to pick up tickets, you will walk down this hallway to the auditorium. Bathrooms are located on the right at the end of the hallway. WILL CALL

4 If you would like to try an instrument or make a craft, you can do this in the lobby before you go to your seat in the concert hall.

5 You will enter the concert hall through these doors
You will enter the concert hall through these doors. An usher will take your ticket and show you to your seat.

6 When you enter the hall, you can choose to sit upstairs or downstairs.
If you choose to sit upstairs, you can get there by going up either set of stairs to the left or right of the entrance to the hall, or by the elevator located right behind the stairs in this photo.

7 The concert will start at 11:30 a. m
The concert will start at 11:30 a.m. The orchestra’s Executive Director, Heather Garner will welcome everyone, and then the Concertmaster will enter the stage to tune the orchestra. You can clap for her and she will take a bow.

8 Maestro Luis Biava will step out on stage
Maestro Luis Biava will step out on stage. Conductors love when you clap or say BRAVO!

9 Today we will have a choir on stage and 4 singers.

10 The concert begins with a piece by Leonard Bernstein called Overture to Candide. It is Mr. Bernstein’s 100th Birthday this year! This piece is 5 minutes long. If you would like to stay and listen, that is great! If you need to get up and walk around while you listen that is ok too. If you need to take a break, you can visit the instruments in the lobby or make a craft.

11 When a piece is over, you can clap and say bravo to let the musicians know how much you liked it!

12 The next piece on the program is Beethoven’s 9th Symphony
The next piece on the program is Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. We will be performing the last movement of the piece, his “Ode to Joy.” You may recognize this tune! This piece is 24 minutes long. Feel free to stay and listen or take a break when you need it in the lobby.

13 When the concert is over, you can clap and say BRAVO
When the concert is over, you can clap and say BRAVO! Maestro Luis Biava will tell the orchestra to stand and have everyone take a bow. Thank you for coming to our concert. We hope to see you again soon! We would like to say a special thank you to everyone that helps us make these concerts possible, and especially our partner, PNC Arts Alive.
