2. What is the space race? A race between countries to get to the moon

The space race was a part of history to see which country would be the first to put a man on the moon.
The reason why it was occuring was because man wanted to increase there space programs like NASA to expand space exploration
Another reason why was to help the CIA gather intellegence on Russia and there allies.
The 3rd major reason was to increase military power in the airforce

USA wins the space race

The US won the space race, on july, the launch of apollo 8 took off and landed on the moon 4 days later. neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

34,000 contractors and employees took place in the “space race”

1. NASA obtained about 5 times as much funding after achieving this feat. 3. If It weren't for all the satellites put into space, we wouldn’t be able to make nationwide calls.
