2 Habitat The natural home or environment of an animal of a person.

3 Ecology The branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.

4 Niche A role taken by a type of organism within its community.

5 Biotic factor It’s any living thing that affects the population of another organism.

6 Biome A large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra.

7 Non-living Environment The living and non-living environment affects the survival of an organism.

8 Abiotic factor A nonliving condition or thing, as climate or habitat, that influences or affects an ecosystem and the organisms in it.

9 Ecosystem a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

10 Microhabitat a habitat which is of small or limited extent and which differs in character from some surrounding more extensive habitat.

11 Biosphere the regions of the surface and atmosphere of the earth or another planet occupied by living organisms.

12 Organism an individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form.

13 Food chain a series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food.

14 Food web a system of interlocking and interdependent food chains.

15 Consumer a person who purchases goods and services for personal use.

16 Producer a person, company, or country that makes, grows, or supplies goods or commodities for sale.

17 Carnivore an animal that feeds on other animals.

18 Hebrivore an animal that feeds on plants.

19 Decomposer an organism, especially a soil bacterium, fungus, or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material.
