2 Types of cargo ships Cargo ships can be divided into six groups, according to the type of cargo they carry : Passenger ships Container ships Tankers Bulk carriers Multi – purpose vessels Reefer ships

3 Passenger ship A passenger ship is a ship whose primary function is to carry passengers on the sea Passenger ships include 3 types of ships : Ocean liners Ferries Cruise ships

4 Ocean liner Passenger ship primarily used as a form of transportation across seas or oceans They can also carry cargo or mail One example of an ocean liner is Queen Mary 2, the largest passenger ship ever built for the British Cunard Line Her lenght is 345 m, beam 41 m and height 72 m

6 Ferries Passenger ship used for short-sea trips
He can carry passengers and sometimes vehicles and cargo as well He is also sometimes called water bus or water taxi

8 Cruise ship A cruise ship or cruise liner is passenger ship used for pleasure voyages Transportation is not the only purpose of cruising, particularly on cruises that return passengers to their originating port On „cruises to nowhere”, the ship makes 2-3 night round trips without any ports of call

10 Container ship Cargo ships that carry all of their load in truck- size intermodal container Technique used for transport containers is containerization They use cranes to load and unload containers

12 Tankers A tanker or tank ship is a merchant vessel designed to transport and store liquids or gases Major types of tankers includes the oil tanker, chemical tanker and gas carrier

14 Bulk carrier Bulk carrier or bulker is a ship specially designed to transport unpacked bulk cargo, such as grains, coal, ore and cement in its cargo holds Today’s bulk carriers are specially designed to maximize capacity, safety, efficiency and durability

16 And other cargo ships.. We’ve got many more cargo ships, such as multi-purpose vessel that is built for the carriage of a wide range of cargoes Also we have reefer ship, typically used to transport perishable commodities which require temperature-controlled transportation, such as fruit, meat, fish, vegetables ... Etc.
