3 Preliminary – King Jehoahaz
TEXT: 2 Kings 23:30-34 REIGN: Son of Josiah (23:30); 23 yrs. old (23:31); Reigned for only 3 months (23:31) ACTS: Did what was evil (23:32) OPPRESSOR: Put in prison by Pharaoh-Necho (23:33); Died in Egypt as a prisoner (23:34)

4 Phase 1 – King Jehoiakim TEXT: 2 Kings 23:34-24:1-7
REIGN: Formerly Eliakim (23:34); Son of Josiah (23:34); Pharaoh-Necho put him in as king (23:34); Began to reign at 35 & reigned 11 yrs (23:36) ACTS: Did what was evil (23:37) OPPRESSOR: Became a vassal of Neb & the first phase began in year 3 of his reign cf Daniel 1:1-2 – Neb carried away some of the nobles & people to Babylon

5 Timeline Review Josiah died in 610 BC
Jehoahaz only reigned 3 months – still 610 BC Jehoiakim reigned 11 years – 610 until 599 BC Babylon captivity began in the 3rd year of his reign which means Phase 1 of the Captivity began in 607 BC.

6 Phase 2 – King Jehoiachin
TEXT: 2 Kings 24:6-16 REIGN: Son of Jehoiakim (24:6); Was 18 yrs old when he started & reigned for 3 months (24:8) ACTS: Did what was evil (24:9) OPPRESSOR: Neb besieged Jerusalem & carried away: Treasures of the Temple (24:13); Princes, Mighty Men, Captives & Craftsmen (24:14); King, family & officers (24:15); Craftsmen, smiths, soldiers (24:16)

7 Phase 3 – King Zedekiah TEXT: 2 Kings 24:17-25:12
REIGN: Named Mattaniah (24:17); Uncle of Jehoiachin (24:17); 21 years old (24:18); reigned for 11 years (24:18) ACTS: Did what was evil (24:19) OPPRESSOR: Neb sieged Jerusalem w/in 2 yrs (25:1-3); City fell in 11th year of Zed – 19 yrs after 1st captivity (25:8);

8 Phase 3 – King Zedekiah (cont)
OPPRESSOR: Zed was captured (25:4-5), his sons killed, his eyes put out & taken captive to Babylon (25:7); Temple was burned (25:9); Walls were torn down (25:10); Only the poor were left (25:11-12)
