Canada Temporary Resident Visas Application includes: Correct fee (check website) Valid passport for each person 2 passport size photographs Students: evidence of current enrollment Workers: evidence of paid employment (pay stubs and letter from employer)

Acceptance letter & proof of funds Medical (in some cases) Security & criminality screening applies No study permit required if program less than six months "Certificat d’acceptation du Québec"

Employer may be required to obtain approval from HRSDC office ( or – Employment may fall under exemption category (e.g. NAFTA, postdoctoral fellow, post-graduate employment, intracompany transfer, etc.) Work permit is employer specific (up to 3 years)

- is job offer genuine? - neutral or positive economic effect - National Confirmation letters Labour market opinions for foreign workers that apply to all foreign workers who have job offers in the described fields e.g. Canada Research Chair Positions IT workers

12 SPOUSAL EMPLOYMENT Canada
SPOUSE AND COMMON-LAW PARTNERS OBTAIN OPEN (I.E. NOT JOB SPECIFIC) WORK PERMITS IF PRINCIPAL APPLICANT’S OCCUPATION FALLS WITHIN NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION (NOC) SKILL LEVELS: O MANAGEMENT OCCUPATIONS A PROFESSIONAL OCCUPATIONS B TECHNICAL OR SKILLED TRADESPERSON And - PRINCIPAL APPLICANT’S WORK PERMIT IS VALID FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS Children going to Grade 1 or above need a Study Permit. It must be applied for before entering Canada.
