4 Nature of Assessment Use of Information
Diagnostic: Occurs before instruction begins in order to determine students’ readiness to learn new knowledge and skills, as well as obtain information about their interests and learning preferences.” Is used by teachers and students to determine what students already know and can do with respect to the knowledge and skills identified in the overall and specific expectations teachers can plan instruction and assessment that are differentiated and personalized work with students to set appropriate learning goals.

Used to make judgments about the quality of student learning on the basis of established criteria, to assign a value to represent that quality Supports the communication of information about achievement to students themselves, parents, teachers, and others.

15 Lesson Plan Description
What is it? Unit: exaggerated proportions in shape and bright colours Lesson Plan Description For this lesson students will take inspiration from The City of Ember book their read in language class. In the book, the City is depicted as quite grey and dull. The main character Lina, pictures in her mind an imaginary colourful city. In this lesson students will take a look at James Rizzi’s artwork Cityscapes. Gathering artistic features from his work, students will develop a cityscape that they believe Lina pictures.   For this lesson students will work with pastels to plan and create artwork which includes some of the distinguishing features inspired by James Rizzi’s Skyscraper images. During this lesson students will extend their understanding of exaggerated proportions in shape and bright colours for expressive purposes.
