Outcome variation in late-onset sepsis in 190 neonatal practices. This figure illustrates the frequency of late-onset neonatal sepsis in a series of 190 neonatal practices during a 1-year period. Late-onset sepsis referred to infants who demonstrated infection after 1 week of life. The incidence of infection ranges from 2% to 18% in nurseries that manage patients beyond this age.
