River system composed of three of the largest rivers in North America Altogether the Mississippi drains about 41 percent of the U.S. and some of Canada into the Gulf of Mexico ending up near New Orleans.
System drains 31 states and 2 Canadian provinces
The MOM River System serves has a Transportation Corridor and Trade Route that is unequaled in the world.

Great Plains
If you look at the physical map of this region, you see mountains running along both sides with a large, flat area in the center. This flat area runs from the Arctic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. It is made up of shield and plains.
The region is known for supporting extensive cattle ranching  and farming

7. Canadian Shield A very thin layer of soil on top of bedrock
Many bare outcroppings of the bedrock as a result of glaciation
