5 1.What was the purpose of the Cultural Revolution?
–The purpose of the Cultural Revolution was to combat the counter revolutionary slide toward capitalism by purging the counter revolutionary government. 2.What happened if you were considered “counter-revolutionary?” –You were forced to publicly confess that you were a “bad” communist and your family would be shamed. 3.Who were the Red Guards and what did they do? –The Red Guards were the protectors of Communism. They would arrest counter revolutionaries and spy on others so they could stop anti-communists. 4.How did the Cultural Revolution hurt China? –China’s economy, agriculture, and industry declined and reduced the popularity of the Communist Party.

What was the goal of the demonstrators? -To change the communist government to a democracy What did China’s government do about the protests? -They called in the army and they sent tanks to attack the protestors Why do you think the world was shocked by what happened? -The attack was broadcasted on live television. People saw the horrors being committed against the protestors. What reforms have been made in China since the massacre? Which reforms have not been made? -Some economic reforms were made, but no political reforms were made.
