Federal Student Aid is responsible for managing the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of These programs provide: grants Loans work-study

3 Grants Federal and State government, college or technical school, or private and non-profit organization; Funds that are not paid back unless class is withdrawn

4 Loans Borrowed money that is paid back with interest;
Provided by banks and federal government; Federal government loans provide lower interest rates and more flexible on repayment options

5 Work Study Program that allows you to earn money to pay for school;
Available to those with financial need; Given by schools that have Work Study Program.

6 38-Federal, State, or Local Education/Training Programs & Options
Purpose is to offer other options that are available to you during your transition. Program includes: College level testing; Professional Military education; Veteran’s benefits; Tuition Assistance; Financial aid; Distance learning

7 College Level Testing (CLEP)
Courses you can take that is provided to service members to receive college credit without sitting in a classroom for 8 weeks; Accepted by 2,900 hundred colleges and universities and administrated 1,800 test centers; Even though sponsored by College Board, only colleges may grant credit towards a degree.

8 Professional Military Education
Formal system of education each branch provides to its enlisted personnel. Primary Professional Military Education; Basic Professional Military Education; Introductory Professional Military Education. Education

9 Veteran’s Benefits Broad range of programs and services provided by Department of Veteran Affairs. Eligibility for most VA benefits is based upon discharge from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions.

10 Tuition Assistance Benefit provided to each branch of service with the ability to pay 100% for tuition for schooling. Not a loan; Can also apply for financial aid through FASFA. assistance-ta-program-overview.html

11 Financial Aid Helps students and their families pay for college.
Available from a variety of sources for college, career school, graduate school, and professional school.
