8. Listen to the first one minute and eight seconds of Simon Armitage reading his poem Knowing What We Know Now. (Stop the poem at 1.08)
Ask students to reflect on the question posed by the elf. Ask them
to imagine they were halfway through their lives. Would they take
the opportunity to start getting younger again and live through those
experiences with hindsight? Or would they continue to grow old?
If they chose the first option, what effect would this have on the people in their life?

9. Continue to listen to the poem and stop once again at 2.29.
Ask students if they would change their mind after listening to more of the poem. What type of decision did Kevin make? Objective or Subjective?
Can students think of any other occasions where they have based their
decision on what is right for everyone involved rather than solely on what is right for them?
Listen to the remainder of the poem and ask the following question:
Did Kevin make the wrong decision?
Stress the complex nature of making decisions that affect others.
Are all decisions subjective?
