1 Activity of TTC interoperability
Document No: GSC17-PLEN-06 Source: TTC Contact: Yasubumi Chimura Hideo Himeno GSC Session: PLEN Agenda Item: 6.7 Activity of TTC interoperability Yasubumi Chimura Hideo Himeno TTC Interoperability-AG

2 Highlight of Current Activities
TTC and HATS held the NGN interoperability event and workshop in September 2012, Tokyo. Several NGN terminal (VoIP, video-phone) venders participated. These events were successful . TTC is continuously contributing to ITU-T SG11 to improve NGN interoperability since Res.76 was adopted in WTSA12. TTC proposed new draft Rec. Q.3949 “Service testing framework for real-time multimedia service at NGN UNI”. This Recommendation was approved in ITU-T SG11 meeting in June 2012 respectively. TTC proposes the detailed signalling specifications and test specifications based on the TTC and HATS activities on NGN interoperability.

3 Strategic Direction TTC and HATS develop national testing specifications and adapt them to global standards. TTC contributes to ITU-T Standardization of C&I service testing. Consideration to register test result to ITU-T C&I DB is discussed. HATS SIP/MPEG4 Interoperability Test Guideline ITU-T Rec. vs HATS Guideline ITU-T Recommendation HATS Guideline NGN VoIP testing Q.3948 “VoIP service testing framework at NGN UNI” Based on HATS-ME V1.0 “Interoperability Test Guideline For Multimedia Communication Systems Based on RFC3261(SIP) -STEP1-” NGN Video Telephony Q.3949 “Service testing framework for real-time multimedia service at NGN UNI” HATS-ME V1.3 “Interoperability Test Guideline For SIP/MPEG-4 Multimedia Communication System” Up Stream ITU-T NGN Service Test Specification Down Stream HATS NGN Interoperability Test Guideline TEST Registration DB of ITU-T Benefit Global Contribution from Japan Vendors Expand Asia Broadband Market

4 Challenges NGN service testing specifications are constructed with a single framework Rec. Q.3909 and a series of Recommendations which include detailed specifications for each service. TTC develops Recs. “Video-conf-testing” and “IP-FAX testing”. Q.3909 Framework of NGN interoprability PSTN/ISDN simulation service testing Q.3948 VoIP service testing at NGN UNI Q.Video-Conf-testing Video Conference testing Annex SD(MPEG) SD(H263) HD(H264) Q.IP-FAX-testing IP-FAX testing Rev. 5 Next Steps / Actions APT Conformance and Interoperability event
9-10 September 2013, Bangkok Thailand Schedule Workshop: September 2013 Conformance and interoperability testing: September 2013 Showcasing: September 2013 Testing potential items NGN (VoIP, Video conference) IPTV(including IPTV-MAFR (Multimedia Application Framework)) Showcasing potential items HTML5, Smart TV, Digital signage, SDN, M2M/IoT, etc.

6 Next Steps / Actions The interoperability tests should be based on ITU-T Recommendations, and it is a pragmatic way to achieve by regional SDOs. Such a global interoperability event provides good opportunities to resolve the issues for both of developed and developing countries. This new collaboration framework such as the interoperability events will foster mutual understanding and cooperation among regional/national SDOs . TTC and HATS will be able to take a certain role in the framework through its experiences.
