2 → this is only the tip of the iceberg
SMEs in Europe SMEs are the industrial canvas in Europe A majority of them are very small structures Limited resources to perform their day to day work, standardisation even less so. Hurdles when engagement in standardisation is desired: Where is the work done? Resource intensive work (manpower + travel) Potentially: language barrier Will I be heard at all? → this is only the tip of the iceberg © ETSI All rights reserved

3 Inclusiveness in ETSI Inclusiveness at the core of ETSI values
One of the pillars of ETSI's Long Term Strategy Dedicated programme for societal stakeholders and SMEs inclusiveness Building on the very principles of ETSI membership In line with the increased focus standardisation stakeholders in Regulation 1025/2012 Called the 3SI programme Societal Stakeholders and SMEs Inclusiveness © ETSI All rights reserved

4 Inclusiveness in ETSI: 3SI programme
In addition to its existing practice and policy on societal stakeholders and SME inclusiveness Objective: to further increase support to Annex III organisations and facilitate their involvement in standardisation activities Builds on direct participation as primary tool for inclusiveness. 3SI advocate: a dedicated, neutral contact for inclusiveness matters Twice a year, list of work items of specific relevance to SMEs 3SI round table: a regular event to reflect on progress and to identify/address further issues (if any) More info: © ETSI All rights reserved
