8 12.00 Third session of the morning, often writing
12.30 Playtime 1.15 The afternoon tends to focus on our current topic and activities are a mixture of child initiated and those led by the teacher and assistant. 3.00 Sandwich and story-time 3.30 End of school for Reception

10 Reading At first you will ‘share’ books
Then, you will say the sounds and they will blend them together to make words Later they will learn to do this independently and to recognise ‘tricky’ words too Gradually they begin to read with greater fluency and start to add some expression

11 Phonics Synthetic phonics We make words by pushing sounds together
We also learn ‘tricky words’ Letters and sounds book

12 Mathematics Number Shape, space and measures
Saying number names in order Counting objects accurately (1:1 correspondence) Recognising and ordering numbers Matching numeral and quantity Writing numbers with correct formation Understanding of more and less, estimation, addition, subtraction and sharing Problem solving using this knowledge Shape, space and measures Shapes (2 and 3d) Using everyday language related to size, weight, capacity, position, money, distance, time and patterns

13 Lola’s Marvellous Me Box
Marvellous me box – each child chooses five special things. The instructions are in the box! Lola’s Marvellous Me Box •Little Mermaid Doll •Tennis Ball – Lola likes playing tennis with her Daddy. •Randoms– These are Lola’s favourite sweets and she would like to share them with her friends! •Cinderella Book – Lola’s favourite book. •Necklace – pink and purple.

14 Communication with parents
This Week – on the website We speak to parents on a daily basis Parents’ Evenings and reports.

15 Wow Moments! Partnership – get involved!
Charlie counted 10 cars in a car park on Saturday. Partnership – get involved! Record your child’s achievements outside school.

16 Forest School Forest school uses the natural environment to provide experiences from which self-esteem and confidence grow

17 P.E and Games P.E. includes gym, swimming, dance and athletics
Games activities work on the skills necessary to play netball, football, rugby, hockey, cricket and rounders in Year One Ball skills - catching, throwing and kicking.
