SCHEDULE PLANNER Schedule Planner is a new software that went live at OSU on October 19th. It helps students navigate their multiple schedules and sort through potential course schedules at the university!

Schedule Planner Advisor access will be through Web for advisors, under the Faculty & Advisors menu. This provides you guest access to be able to take it for a drive.

Schedule Planner You (and students) will receive this screen, as it opens a new platform. It cannot open in a new tab because of a security layer.

Schedule Planner Helpful videos uploaded if you’re in need of some visual assistance.

Schedule Planner Here we’ll begin our walk through of the course selection to registration process. We’ll return to some of the additional functionality of Schedule Planner later.

Schedule Planner Currently we do not have E-campus classes listed. This is because this software pulls from Banner designations and there are some course coding issues to sort out with some E-campus classes. Furthermore, most E-campus classes do not have a physical location or set time, which is the key functionality of the software. However, we are working with E-campus to sort out the coding so that it will eventually pipe in E-campus classes, as we know several of our on-campus students also take E-campus classes.

Schedule Planner A nice feature, as this is level of detail is currently not searchable in the catalog. Students are able to see where there are opportunities for the waitlist.

Schedule Planner To start, students can enter in their breaks—times when they cannot be in class. This acts as a filter when generating possible schedules. Some examples of what students might add—childcare schedules, work schedules, medically restrictive breaks. We’ll see more of what this screen looks like on the next slide. Once a student has entered those, they can then click the “Add Course” button to start adding and searching courses

Schedule Planner

Schedule Planner Students can search by subject

Schedule Planner Course attribute (bacc-core, CLA core, and honors course designator, as well as lower division credit).

Schedule Planner If a student has an active plan for the term selected, they can find the courses in the MyDegrees tab. If a specific course is not designated, it may come in with an error. The little “I” next to courses will provide more information, often including the course description (if there is one), necessary sequencing (e.g. Ch 121, 122, & 123 must be taken in order); and cross-listings (among other information).

Schedule Planner If a course has pre-requisites, it will also display that; it will not say what the pre-requisites are, however. IT WILL NOT, HOWEVER, DO PRE-REQUISITE CHECKING AGAINST A STUDENT’S RECORD.

Schedule Planner

Schedule Planner You can compare up to four schedules at a time. (Next screen will show what that looks like)

Schedule Planner Color blocks of time, with the colors standing for particular classes.

Schedule Planner This screen shows the roll-over—as you roll-over, you’re able to see what class it is

Schedule Planner Another roll-over quick view if you don’t want to click view to see the schedule in full.

Schedule Planner The way (only way, actually) to send the potential schedule to the registration cart is to VIEW the schedule. Here you will see the option to send to the registration cart as well as a disclaimer that pre- or co-requisites and restrictions are viewable in the catalog and that this is only a potential schedule (and that students still need to register).

Schedule Planner Once sent to the Registration Cart, a warning message will prompt saying that in confirming, you will be leaving Schedule Planner and will go to the Registration Cart, which is housed in self-service. Here you see an example of what that looks like. This is where students can choose to register, save it, clear it, or merely add it to the worksheet.

Schedule Planner Going back to some of the functionality of Schedule Planner, students are able to sort through all of the section possibilities (if there are multiple) and see instructors, the days/locations, and details of labs/recitations

Schedule Planner If a student wants to keep looking through the potential schedules, but they find a time or instructor they really want to hold, they can click the lock to hold that when sorting through the rest of the schedules. Lock the favorite time sections for narrowing down best schedules
