1 Secure resources – gyproc plasterboard
Understand the range of gyproc plasterboard types and how they are cut and fixed into position

2 Secure plasterboards to backgrounds
Aim To show different plasterboards and how to fix them into place Objective To know and recognise different plasterboards, and know how to fix them

3 Secure plasterboards to backgrounds
Introduction What do you know? How many different plasterboards can you name? What standard thicknesses are boards available in? What colour is Gyproc FireLine? How should boards be stored? Name 2 tools used for cutting plasterboard

Introduction An introduction to plasterboard? Flat sheets of plaster sandwiched between two layers of paper liner By varying the content of the core and the type of liner used, boards are produced to suit many different requirements Requirements include fire resistance, sound absorption, water resistance or impact resistance Designed to meet all current Building Regs A range of 30 different boards in a wide variety of sizes

5 Secure plasterboards to backgrounds
Board types Gyproc WallBoard The standard board product with ivory paper suitable for most applications where normal fire, structural and acoustic levels are required. Manufactured in 9.5mm, 12.5mm and 15mm thickness. Used for internal partitions and ceilings

Board types Gyproc WallBoard TEN A Gyproc WallBoard engineered to meet the guidance given in the revised Building Regulations Approved Document Part E, where used, plasterboard must have a mass of 10kg/m² for internal partitions and separating walls in all residential projects, both new build and refurbishment

Board types Gyproc SoundBloc Gypsum plasterboard with a higher density and sound damping core. Designed for use in British Gypsum wall lining, partition and ceiling systems where greater levels of sound insulation are required. Pale blue coloured face paper.

Board types Gyproc Moisture Resistant Gypsum plasterboard with water repellent additives in the core, encased in a special green paper liner. Suitable as a base for ceramic tiling in wet use areas. Also used for external soffits in sheltered positions.

Board types Gyproc Plank A 19mm thick version of Gyproc WallBoard. Used as the main board in a variety of British Gypsum systems where acoustic performance is a requirement.

Board types Gyproc FireLine Gypsum plasterboard with fibre glass and other additives in the core. Used in British Gypsum partition, wall lining and ceiling systems to give increased fire protection. Pink coloured face paper for clear identification on site. Also available in a moisture resistant version.

Board types Gyproc WallBoard DUPLEX Gyproc WallBoard backed with a vapour control membrane. Used for wall and ceiling linings where vapour control and a plasterboard lining are required in one fixing operation. Can improve thermal resistance of the lining when facing a minimum 20mm cavity.

Cutting Gyproc plasterboards Lay board flat face up Mark off the measurements required, and place the straight edge up to these marks

13 Secure plasterboards to backgrounds
Cutting Gyproc plasterboards Run a craft knife along the straight edge to score the paper face of the board Self retracting knives are the safest to use to reduce the risk of injury
