10 Embedded Advisors By Program
Centralized managed advising through Student Development Each advisor is assigned specific programs and provide Advising Services solely to students in those programs Benefits - Ensures consistency amongst advisors duties, roles and dissemination of information - Allows each advisor to specialize in a suite of programs - Allows advisors to build relationships with the faculty in the programs - Advisors invited to program and department meetings

Three Pillars - Central Core Remote Annex Department Central Core - Pros: - ‘One stop’ shopping for students Close proximity to other advisors Sense of Comradery among staff Students could book appointments Students could pop in - Cons: - Advisors removed from faculty and staff in departments and programs they advised for Disengaged and detached Lack of Awareness Remote Annex - Pros: - A break from the ‘business of the central core’ Students still welcomed at reception area in central core Advisors housed with other student services i.e.: records, Prior Learning Assessment - Cons: - Not all advisors moved - Disconnected Physical Isolation Spotty contact with faculty and coordinators

Three Librarians: - Work with instructor to tailor instruction to an assignment Create specialized how to guides for assignments (History, English, Political Science) Designate a certain librarian as the contact resource for particular areas (one for Arts/Education, one for Business, one for Health & Science) - Librarians on Location

Program Coordinators - Teach Scheduling & Workloads - interaction with faculty, students, advisors First year student orientation Dean & Associate Deans: - *Teach – at least one course in the academic year Develop & promote a team culture within the division and college Monitor academic performance in the Division and identify and address relevant trends - Lead in the development of new programs Provide leadership in program reviews and make decisions related to programs and courses - Sets the executive direction in the development and implementation of recruitment/retention strategies
