19 Artist Presentation Painting: Replica and “Inspired” research presentation This project is designed to encourage your growth and knowledge in the visual arts. You will also be painting a replica of one of their paintings and doing an “inspired” painting based on their work. You will research a famous painter of your choice and prepare and give a presentation on that artist. Your presentation should be put in a PPT/Prezi, or a similar format. You will be graded on the following: 3 points _____ Describe the works of art using terms referring to the Elements and Principles of design such as: color, texture, space, form/shape, balance, pattern, line, value etc. 3 points_____ What was going on during the time the artwork was made that influenced the artist? For example: cultural, personal, social, historical, global, etc. An example would be Picasso’s blue period and how his state of mind (depression) affected his work. He used dark (sad) colors and a sad subject matter. Please only reference things that actually affected their work. Just because they painted during WWI doesn’t mean that it actually affected their work. What symbolism does artist use or what symbolism does the work have, if any? Are there hidden meanings through some of the subject matter? What was the artist trying to say? (This will come from reading about the artist and their work.) Who is the intended audience for this artwork? Who is meant to see it? Who is the artist trying to influence? Why did you choose this artist/artwork? What feelings does it evoke in you? What do you think about the artist? Include pictures of the artwork you are discussing. 2 points _____ Include 2 questions to ask the class for further discussion. Total_____/20
