Do we need to make our data “more” discoverable through mainstream search engines

3. Approach : Schema.org
Advantage : data is better indexed => more prominent in search results
Use Case w added value :

But there are other options (sitemaps, Dublin Core, Geo V domain, landing pages …)

5. Thoughts
Level ? Dataset vs object but also European vs national portal
Combination of actions – this could be a complement
API over MD => data already gets indexed => this is extra
There are different levels of users => who will it benefit
This is not an answer to the education of users (on data quality)
There is no guarantee of clarity of what users will get (will it help when faced with 3p of links ?)
Schema.org is already incorporated in Geonetwork – should we provide a standardised mapping for others ?
Ethics
If seen as complement (vs lock in) there would be no problem – way to re-use what we have
If you have open data => this should not be a problem
