8 2018/19 Office Hours are 7:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Office News 2018/19 Office Hours are 7:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Dropping Off items: Office Staff are not permitted to interrupt instructional time. If it is a lunch, we will make sure that the student gets the lunch during their lunch period. Label the item clearly with first, last name, and HR # Place on shelf in bookcase in Main Office Students retrieve between classes

9 Arrival & Dismissal Homeroom begins at 8:05 a.m.
The busses drop off at 7:40 a.m., and at 7:50 a.m., students may proceed to lockers and homerooms. Parent Drop-Off and Pick-up is via back lot near door 21. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Homeroom begins at 8:05 a.m. Students are expected to be in their classrooms for the start of the instructional day After 8:05 a.m., students report directly to the main office and enter through door #2 with a tardy note

10 Arrival & Dismissal Students may not ride other busses (Per School Code – Authorized Passengers) There are two bus lineups: One set of busses will be dismissed at 2:41 p.m. , and the other will be dismissed at 2:57 p.m.. Students will need to pay attention to announcements daily as there are occasional switches between one run to the other. Students who are doing sports in the fall (soccer, field hockey, cross country and football) or music (sometimes) will have designated busses to the 8th grade center if needed for practice/games. No Late busses for afterschool activities Students may not ride the buses to the 8th grade center to just watch or to get a ride so that they can walk the rest of the way home.

11 Attendance Parental phone call – The District requests a phone call on the day of absence, and then the REQUIRED written notification within 3 days. Excused absence versus Unlawful/Unexcused absence. Attendance Improvement Plan (AIP) 10 Day and 3 Day Letters Consequences can include loss of school privileges (Dances, Sports, Class Trip, etc.).

12 Attendance (cont.) Upon return from an excused absences, students will be allotted 2 days to make up academic work for each day absent. This regulation does not apply to long-term assignments of which students were already aware. Students are responsible for obtaining missed assignments from teachers when absent 1-3 days. If the absence will exceed 3 days, parents may contact the guidance office and pick up assignments for their child.

13 Tardiness Policy Unexcused tardiness #4, 5, 6 = Detentions and “0” for all in class assignments. Unexcused tardiness #7, 8, 9 = Saturday Detention and “0” for all in class assignments. Unexcused tardiness #10 = OSS Please note: Out of School Suspension = ineligibility for school activities.

14 Early Dismissal All notes are to be submitted to Main Office early in the morning, either before or during HR. Student must report to Main Office to sign-out Upon return, bring verification from your appointment to submit to Main Office.

15 Cafeteria Point-of- Sale System
Checks made payable to: Spring-Ford Cafeteria Students submit funds to homeroom teacher. Check your child’s account frequently. Students with a negative balance will not be permitted to participate in school functions.

16 Lunch Times First Lunch (10:15 a.m.-10:45 a.m.) – Romans &Celts 1-3
Second Lunch (11:01 a.m.-11:31 a.m.) – Incas & Celts 4-5 Third Lunch (11:47 a.m.-12:17 p.m.) – Greeks, Egyptians 5 Fourth Lunch (12:33 p.m.-1:03 p.m.) – Egyptians 1-4

17 Time Schedules 7 Periods in a day. 3 minutes between classes. Flexibility will surely be given as the students learn their new schedules and locations. Periods are 46 minutes. Target Time/Homeroom – Every Day Enrichment opportunities and remediation opportunities Media Center 7th period ends at 2:41 p.m.

19 Minor Subjects Meets 3 days in a 6-day cycle
Health/Physical Education, Reading Instruction, & World Language Gym –Blue Shorts ($8.00) and Gold/Yellow Shirts ($7.00) are available at school store.

There are a variety of different sports or clubs you can participate in throughout the 2018/19 school year. You must maintain a passing grades to participate on ANY school sports team. 28 Extra Curricular Activities
Discipline Extra Curricular Activities If a student is asked to leave a Spring-Ford event (home or away) for behavior purposes, the student will not be permitted to attend any Spring-Ford events until after the next game played by the team where the infraction occurred (at the discretion of the Principal). If the same student is asked to leave a second event (home or away) in the same school year, the student will not be allowed to attend any Spring-Ford athletic events for the remainder of the school year (at the discretion of the Principal).

29 Discipline …More to Know
Cell phones are not to be used during the school day. If violation occurs, it will be confiscated (Policy 237)…same with iPods! Bullying/Cyberbullying and Peer Conflicts Lockers are SFASD property. Report if not working properly. Hallway passes are mandatory. No food or drink outside of the cafeteria. Valuables/Money– If they are brought to school they should be locked in the locker. Bus Conduct Dress Code – When in doubt…don’t wear it out!

30 Demerit System Penalties for accumulated demerits: 10 demerits = 1st Suspension = 3 days 20 demerits = 2nd Suspension = 5 days Code of Conduct applies 30 demerits = 3rd Suspension = 10 days
