2 What is a drone exactly? A Drone, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), or Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) is simply an unmanned flying asset. Drones are regulated by the FAA and are piloted by a licensed pilot holding an FAA 107 license. Drones must adhere to, and abide by, the same laws and rules as a regular aircraft but with several additional regulations. Drones can be as small as the palm of your hand and carry minimal payloads, or they can be as large as military sized aircraft carrying payloads in the hundreds of pounds. Drones can be rotor style, typically with 4 rotors being the minimum, to large fixed wing with a single propeller.

3 General Statistics It is estimated that the drone industry will have a market value of $20.5 Billion by 2025 with an estimated 6.3 Million units being sold.
