2. Mission
Our mission is decrease teen suicides in Michigan by providing suicide education and emotional support to teens and their families. Furthermore, to raise awareness about suicide prevention and risk factors.

3. Why is this service needed
Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among adolescents (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2016).
17% of teens considered suicide in the past 12 months (Center for Disease Control, 2015).
Suicide rates among youths and young adults in Michigan are higher than the national rates (Michigan Department of Community Health, 2014).
The death rate per 100,000 for Michigan is 13.28% ,national rate is 12.97% (Michigan Department of Community Health, 2011).

How can we decrease suicide rates in the state of Michigan?
How can we support our Michigan adolescents and their families?
How can we facilitate connectedness between adolescents and the community?
How can we provide suicide education in Michigan?
How can we raise suicide prevention awareness?

5. Philosophy
As professional nurses; we should strive to promote a good physical and mental health connection. We hold the belief that through education, support, awareness and advocacy, teens and their families can receive the tools needed to be functioning healthy member of society.

6. Objectives
To provide suicide education to 75% of the high school student in Michigan within two years.
To decrease suicides in Michigan adolescents within five years.
