The Solar system gets its name from the sun, Sol
There are 8 planets, 181 known moons, 173 of which orbit full sized planets while the remaining 8 orbit dwarf planets (ceres pluto, Haumea and Makemake), countless asteroids, and comets.
Most objects travel around the sun in elliptical orbits.
