3 Changing Landscape:

4 The objective of this program is to assist the Service Members (SMs) of the WVNG with the payment of up to 100% tuition and allowable fees at both public and private institutions of higher learning, located throughout the State of West Virginia. Must be a member of the West Virginia Air or Army National Guard at time of enrollment and throughout the duration of the semester/term enrolled Members of the WVNG who reside in another state (non-residents) are eligible to participate in this program at West Virginia institutions BUILDING ON OUR MOMENTUM! WVASFAA SPRING 2018 CONFERENCE

5 WVEEP currently offers Service Members $7,000 per fiscal year at in-state institutions
Total payments for an individual will not exceed 140 semester hours of credit for undergraduate and 45 semester hours for graduate level course-work Participants must maintain academic standing with the educational institution to include a cumulative GPA of 2.0 while pursuing undergraduate degree and 3.0 for a graduate degree Service Members are eligible to receive a Certificate, Associates, Bachelors and/or Masters Degree(s) Not more than two members a year may be selected by The Adjutant General to receive payment for either a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree program Service Members utilizing WVEEP, must submit a WVEEP Registration Form, MOU, Degree Plan and Transcripts BUILDING ON OUR MOMENTUM! 7 Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill Provides three different types of funding for Eligible Soldiers Tuition Payment Housing Stipend Books and Supplies Payed at a percentage determined by the number of months of active duty after 9/11/2001 Tuition is payed to school, while the housing stipend and books and supplies stipend is payed to soldier BUILDING ON OUR MOMENTUM! 8 Post 9/11 continued…. Rates and payment amounts can be determined by visiting Example A Soldier attending WVU with 2 years of deployments in Iraq from 2007 to 2009 2 yrs_____80% Housing stipend Morgantown, WV, _______________$1,224 Books and supplies yearly ___________$800 (Housing stipend x number of months enrolled)+books and supplies= yearly payout for GI Bill (1224x9)+800= 11,816

9 Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill
Gained by buying into the program while serving on active duty for a period of at least 2yrs. Benefit is paid directly to the Soldier and comes as a direct deposit. Payment rates are found at Rates go up every October 1, so when budgeting for the GI Bill, allow for a slight deviation up or down of around 3% +/-. 36 Months of benefits total at a rate of $1,928 = potentially $69,408 for a full time student over their academic career.

10 Chapter 1606 Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill
Gained by having a HS diploma or equivalent, 6yr contract and completing initial training. Benefit is paid directly to the Soldier and comes as a direct deposit. Payment rates are found at Rates go up every October 1, so when budgeting for the GI Bill, allow for a slight deviation up or down of around 3% +/-. 36 Months of benefits total at a rate of $375 = potentially $13,500 for a full time student over their academic career.
