1 Student Safety Reimagined
Welcome…. My name is Mike Jolley, and I am the head of student safety at Securly. My colleague Kathleen and I will spend the next 45 minutes walking you through Securly’s Student Safety Features including The Parent Portal, Auditor, and 24. We will also provide a preview of an exciting new feature coming later this year: tipline. Prior to joining to Securly, I was a high school princpal in a district with over 30,000 students. So as I speak with you today about bullying, suicide, parent engagement, and digital citizenship, I do so as a person who has close to 15 years of experience in these areas. Kathleen...

2 Student Safety Challenges
Students using Internet more socially Increase in suicides and bullying Long-term consequences for online behavior

3 The fact that you are taking part in today’s presentation means you are well aware what is going on between students and likely do not examples, but I wanted to highlight a few examples of the type of post Securly flags for schools and parents.

4 Now i want to go a step further and talk about my experience, as well as a few other recent issues caused by students lack of understanding of the concept of digital citizenship, and do not realize that their digital footprint will become their resume.

5 Parent Portal & Parental Integration
Our parent portal will provide multiple outcomes for your schools: safer students, students who are more digitally responsible, a higher rate of parent engagement in both academic activities and digital citizenship, and send the message to your parent community that you are taking advantage of the latest technologies to keep their children safe.

6 Parent Portal by securly:// ...Beyond Grades and Attendance
Designed to revolutionize student safety and productivity in 1:1 environments Parents Portal gives access to web filtering and student safety data Options to configure access and control (take-home, at school data) Weekly s keep parents engaged Major focus for Securly aligns with Digital Citizenship programs

7 Weekly Email Report For Parents

9 Securly will provide parents with 3 types of flagged activity:
Flagged sentiments on social media- we use sentiment analysis to determine if posts on FB, twitter, and google+ are indicative of bullying or self harm. If so, we post the message in the Parent Portal We examine student searches, and if a search matches our database of keyword phrases, it will appear in Flagged activity. We also have a database of sites that will be flagged if a student visits or attempts to visit, such as near-death.com, or suicide.org
