1 Arise, and take up your cot and walk?

17Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. 20When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 19وَلَمَّا لَمْ يَجِدُوا مِنْ أَيْنَ يَدْخُلُونَ بِهِ لِسَبَبِ ﭐلْجَمْعِ, صَعِدُوا عَلَى ﭐلسَّطْحِ وَدَلَّوْهُ مَعَ ﭐلْفِرَاشِ مِنْ بَيْنِ ﭐلأَجُرِّ إِلَى ﭐلْوَسَطِ قُدَّامَ يَسُوعَ. 20فَلَمَّا رَأَى إِيمَانَهُمْ قَالَ لَهُ: ”أَيُّهَا ﭐلإِنْسَانُ, مَغْفُورَةٌ لَكَ خَطَايَاكَ“. 21فَابْتَدَأَ ﭐلْكَتَبَةُ وَﭐلْفَرِّيسِيُّونَ يُفَكِّرُونَ قَائِلِينَ: ”مَنْ هَذَا ﭐلَّذِي يَتَكَلَّمُ بِتَجَادِيفَ؟

22But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23Which is easier, to say, “Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, “Rise up and walk’? 24But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” , He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 22فَشَعَرَ يَسُوعُ بِأَفْكَارِهِمْ, وَأَجَابَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: ”مَاذَا تُفَكِّرُونَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ؟ 24وَلَكِنْ لِكَيْ تَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ لاِبْنِ ﭐلإِنْسَانِ سُلْطَاناً عَلَى ﭐلأَرْضِ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ ﭐلْخَطَايَا“, قَالَ لِلْمَفْلُوجِ: ”لَكَ أَقُولُ: قُمْ وَﭐحْمِلْ فِرَاشَكَ وَﭐذْهَبْ إِلَى بَيْتِكَ!“. 25Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. 26And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!” 25فَفِي ﭐلْحَالِ قَامَ أَمَامَهُمْ, وَحَمَلَ مَا كَانَ مُضْطَجِعاً عَلَيْهِ, وَمَضَى إِلَى بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ يُمَجِّدُ ﭐللهَ. 26فَأَخَذَتِ ﭐلْجَمِيعَ حَيْرَةٌ وَمَجَّدُوا ﭐللهَ, وَﭐمْتَلَأُوا خَوْفاً قَائِلِينَ: ”إِنَّنَا قَدْ رَأَيْنَا ﭐلْيَوْمَ عَجَائِبَ!“.

6 Faith of the friends 1- Faith that works: The Lord saw their faith! James 2:14 My brothers, what profit is it if a man says he has faith and does not have works? Can faith save him? 2- Faith that persists: Luke 18:1 And He also spoke a parable to them to teach it is always right to pray, and not to faint,

7 Faith of the paralytic 3- Faith that justifies: Acts 13:38 Therefore be it known to you, men, brothers, that through this One the forgiveness of sins is announced to you. 4- Faith that obeys: Luke 5:25 And immediately he rose up before them and took up that on which he lay. And he departed to his own house, glorifying God.

8 Who can forgive sins but God alone? He is a blasphemer
Jesus is either a blasphemer or He is God Jeremiah 17:10 I Jehovah search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. 2 Kings 20:5 Return again and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, So says Jehovah, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of Jehovah.

9 "There are many people who are not going to receive the message of salvation unless you lift a corner of their stretcher and carry them to the place where they can hear the word of the Lord. They are paralyzed—immobilized by sin and by many other things the world holds for them. Some are paralyzed by prejudice and others by indifference. They are never going to hear Jesus say to them, ‘Son, thy sins be forgiven thee,’ unless you take the corner of their stretcher and bring them to Him."

1After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. 3In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.
4For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 4لأَنَّ ملاَكاً كَانَ يَنْزِلُ أَحْيَاناً فِي ﭐلْبِرْكَةِ وَيُحَرِّكُ ﭐلْمَاءَ.

7The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.

10The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” 11He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, “Take up your bed and walk.” 12Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, “Take up your bed and walk’?” 13But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.

14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” 15The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

15 1- It is by Grace alone: Romans 9:15-16 For He said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." (16) So then it is not of the one willing, nor of the one running, but of God, the One showing mercy.

16 2- What are you waiting for:
Hebrews 3:7-8 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear His voice, (8) do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, لِذَلِكَ كَمَا يَقُولُ الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ: «الْيَوْمَ إِنْ سَمِعْتُمْ صَوْتَهُ (8) فَلاَ تُقَسُّوا قُلُوبَكُمْ، كَمَا فِي الإِسْخَاطِ، يَوْمَ التَّجْرِبَةِ فِي الْقَفْرِ

17 3- What do you want from God?
Hebrews 2:1-3 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. (2) For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and if every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward, (3) how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by those who heard Him;

18 4- With Jesus you don’t need man, angel or water:
Colossians 1:15-16 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. (16) For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.

19 5- Sin can be the reason for sickness:
1 Corinthians 11:29-30 For he who eats and drinks unworthily eats and drinks condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. (30) For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and many sleep.

20 Summary Faith that works Faith that persists Faith that justifies
Faith that obeys It is by Grace The waiting is over What do you want from God? With Jesus, you don’t need anything else Sin can be the reason of sickness

21 Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call. Ephesians 2:5 (even when we were dead in sins) has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved),
