26 The High-Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth, established by the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) Ban Ki-Moon, on 2 March, 2016 is charged with proposing actions to stimulate and guide the creation of health and social sector jobs for inclusive growth in ways that address the shortage of 18 million health workers estimated to be required to achieve and sustain universal health coverage. These actions will harness the opportunity presented by the anticipated growth of a projected 40 million new health sector jobs by 2030 to achieve gains across the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
