5 USACE CAREERS USACE serves as the DoD Infrastructure Assurance Office for Public Works. In this role, USACE is responsible for ensuring that all DoD installations have Infrastructure Assurance Plans in place. USACE also provides leadership, guidance, and expertise in the following areas: Border and Transportation Security Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Countermeasures R&D Laboratories and Centers of Expertise in Structural Protective Design and Electronic Security USACE has three core areas of technical capability: Civil Works Military Public Works Environmental Restoration

8 ADVANCING MINORITIES’ INTEREST IN ENGINEERING (AMIE)
AMIE (Advancing Minorities' Interest in Engineering) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to expand corporate, government, and academic alliances to implement and support programs to attract, educate, graduate and place underrepresented minority students in engineering careers. 2017 – AMIE Students 2016 – AMIE Students AMIE interns gain career experience in Korea Joyrie Dickerson, center, a chemical engineering major from Hampton University, looks over a design package during a site visit July 20 at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.

12 CAREER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Pathway Program - Executive Order established the “Pathways” program as of July 10, 2012, which consists of the following: Internship Program - The Pathways Internship Program is for current students and replaces the existing SCEP and STEP. Participants will be referred to as “interns” and must be enrolled in qualifying institutions, as determined by OPM.  Interns must have meaningful work experience and agencies must set clear expectations regarding their work experience. Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program – This program is applicable to individuals from a variety of academic disciplines at the graduate level.  Participants will continue to be known as PMFs or Fellows and must have received, within the preceding 2 years, a qualifying advanced degree.

Recent Graduates Program – This program is intended to promote careers with the federal government by providing individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying education institutions or programs with developmental experiences in the federal government.  Participants will be referred to as “recent graduates” and must have obtained a qualifying degree, or completed a qualifying career or technical education program, as determined by OPM, within the preceding 2 years, except for veterans who due to military service obligations, must be appointed within 6 years of obtaining a qualifying degree or completing a qualifying program.  For more information: For additional information about USACE employment or to find out more about the USACE mission, please visit For more information on applying to USACE positions, please visit
