Who we are: One of California's 58 County Governments Population: 10 Million People Most populous county in the U.S. Contains ¼ of California's 39 million people. 88 Cities + Unincorporated Areas. Area: Over 4,000 Square Miles. Major Services: Law Enforcement (Sheriff, DA, Probation), Coroner Fire Protection, Health and Social Services. Registrar-Recorder, Property Assessment. What we do: Locate All Property in LA County. 2.57 Million parcels/properties. 300k Business assessments. Identify the Owner of Each Property. Review 250,000 – 400,000 recorded documents each year. Establish an Assessed Value for Each Property. Complete 500,000 Appraisals per year. Apply All Legal Exemptions. Complete an Assessment Roll. $1.4 Trillion Dollar Roll ≈ $15 Billion in Revenue Statistics and figures from the 2016 Assessment Year

Los Angeles County OFFICE OF THE ASSESSOR Our Challenges: “Green Screens” The existing core legacy system consists of a mainframe built with 1970’s technology that is now over 40 years old. It contains cryptic historical codes, keys, acronyms, and other language that users must either memorize or look up in manuals. Limitations: 1970’s Technology. Limited Search. Poor Navigation. Cryptic Codes & Keys. No Reference to Location. Device Dependent – No Mobility. Lack of Scalability – No Change. Paper Based System [120s] – Kl We have several technology challenges that we are facing. Our core system of record is still on 1970s Technology in the form of a mainframe and associated green screens. Today’s generation is use to touch/swipe/pinch for immediate access to everything. At the Assessor’s office, we offer the TAB, F8, Hot-Keys resulting in poor searching, and no GeoLocation or maps. Not to mention, they have to utilize Lookup codes and keys in manuals instead of having instant information.
