5 Why Was the Health Informatics Initiative Created?
“Transforming Healthcare Delivery through Health Informatics” (Health Informatics Initiative or hi2) was created by Secretary Shinseki in May 2010 with these missions: Assist with VHA’s transition from a medical model of care to a patient-centered model of care; Build a sustainable collaborative between the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the VA Office of Information and Technology (OIT); and Cultivate and invest in the VA workforce. Our home: Office of Informatics and Analytics (OIA), Health Informatics division, Applied Informatics

7 Course Duration and Composition
April 9 – October 19, 2018 46 Students 15 Faculty Moderators 8 Modules over 6 months Pending Approval- One Face to AMIA Annual Symposium- San Francisco, CA, November 3rd-7th, 2018 Pre-registration in ACES will be required. We will keep you posted!

12 Completion Requirements
To receive a VA AMIA 10x10 Certificate: Completion of Module activities: Includes Video Lectures, Post Tests and Evals completed in TMS Required activities and assignments Completion of Final Project and presentation to VA Certificate Program class Earn a minimum of 70% of total points to graduate

13 Upon Completion What Do I Receive?
AMIA 10x10 Certificate of Completion TMS Education Credit (video lectures) CEUs (video lectures) Membership to AMIA (VA)

14 Learning Lab: Moodle Platform
Moodle is a browser-based application that works with any ‘modern’ browser Access Inside or Outside the VA network Supported browsers: Internet Explorer 8 (IE 10 is required for drag and drop files from outside the browser into Moodle) Google Chrome 11 Safari 5 Firefox 4 Disable pop-up blockers Address settings to prevent mail routing to “spam/junk”

Internet Site: from Admin User provides access information Log On User Name: VA address Password assigned – change on initial logon -VA standard format Orientation materials, syllabus, etc. Course Calendar Course News Module One: Fundamentals Faculty view, required videos, required readings, discussion board, and assignments

16 TMS Tips and Tricks Access TMS thru VA network (may be slower) or via home computer Search for Health Informatics Lecture Series (301) - Expand Item to show entire list- Add each lecture to your To Do List For each course--3 steps to complete- Launch brochure, complete course, complete evaluation (evaluation step must be done while on network to get CEUs) Download presentation narratives if you prefer to read narratives/slides vs. watching videos At completion of entire series, a certificate of completion is issued

18 What Can You Do NOW? Log into Moodle site: Change your password Edit your User Profile (My Profile) and upload a picture of yourself Refer to Getting Around in Moodle to determine how best to control your notifications Log into TMS: Add the Health Informatics Lecture Series (301) to your To Do List Add Books 24/7 to your To Do list in TMS Log into Library Network VALU Create a user account for Athens for remote access to library materials Refer to Library Resources in Course Orientation section for specific instructions
