Igneous is derived from the Latin ignis, meaning fire. Most of the seafloor is made of Basalt an EXTRUSIVE (Volcanic) IGNEOUS ROCK

3 Igneous – Formed from the cooling of molten rock

4 Igneous Rock Intrusive- IR that form from the cooling
of magma inside the Earth. LARGE CRYSTALS=SLOW COOLING Extrusive-IR that form at the Earth’s Surface. SMALL CRYSTALS=FAST COOLING

Compaction- Sediments get compressed and compacted. Cementation-Small crystals precipitate and act as glue that holds the rock together. Precipitation-Crystals precipitate directly from solution.
