5. Food sanitation
The FDA has strict guidelines to ensure a safe food supply The Food Safety Modernization Act gives them the authority to shut down a food processing facility that does not comply Equipment in these facilities must be sanitized regularly The motors must be well suited for applications requiring high-pressure cleaning with caustic solution
The key provisions of the Act that the manufactures must abide by are:
Conduct hazard analysis
Implement scientific “risk based” preventive controls
Develop and implement written food/feed safety plans.
The FDA is required:
To review safety plans every two years
Evaluate health data
Issue science based regulations
Differentiate between human and animal foods
The FDA is authorized to :
Inspect facility records impromptu upon showing a written notice that a “reasonable belief” of serious hazard exists.
And Inspect high risk facilities every 5 years
Inspect other facilities every 7 years
Hire 1000 new inspectors.
Facilities have to re-register every 2 years

The Paint Free motors are the industry’s entry level, non-painted motor
- These two motors are still used very widely, and are appropriate in areas that do not come into direct contact with food
- These motors can handle wet environments
When motors are in direct food areas, it is advisable to use stainless steel motors
- Entry level stainless steel motors are all stainless and utilize gaskets & sealers on endplate fits
