1 Records & Registration
When to Register Prerequisites & Transfer Credit CI Academic Requirements Report (CARR) Hello, my name is _________ and I’m from Records and Registration. We’re going to cover a few items that are important for new transfer students coming to Channel Islands. This includes registration, prerequisites and your transfer credit, and your CI Academic Requirements Repost, or CARR.

2 When to Register Registration will occur at Orientation
For future terms: enrollment appointments in your Student Center Your first registration appointment as a new student will occur at your Orientation. For future terms you can find your enrollment appointment in your Student Center in the myCI portal. This appointment will detail the exact date and time that you may begin to register. Any holds that are placed on your record are also viewable in your Student Center, so it is a good idea to check frequently.

3 Prerequisites If you have not met a prerequisite, you will receive an enrollment error Review course descriptions ahead of time Final transcript may be needed Review transfer credit report Plan ahead – All transfer coursework will be evaluated before the start of your first term, but not before you register As a new transfer student, you will most likely be enrolling in upper division courses, of which many have prerequisites. If you have not met the prerequisite for a class you will receive an enrollment error when you attempt to register. It is important to review course descriptions ahead of time and verify that you have met the prerequisites. Before enrolling, you can review your transfer credit report in myCI. We’ll go over that in more detail in the next slide. Overall, for your first term of enrollment, it is a good idea to plan ahead. Your transfer credit will be officially evaluated before your first semester starts but not before you initially register.

4 Transfer Credit Report
One of the best ways to prepare for your first term of registration at CI is to review your transfer credit report. This report details each class you completed at your previous schools and what equivalencies they meet at CI. This could mean either a direct course equivalency, a general education area, or elective credit. By the time you register, if we’ve received transcripts in a timely manner, your transfer work should be posted to your record, though not officially evaluated, so there may be some discrepancies. Over the summer, our evaluators will go through your transfer course work to ensure that you are receiving the correct equivalencies at Channel Islands.

5 CI Academic Requirements Report (CARR)
Outlines General Education, Graduation and Major/Minor requirements Available in your Student Center As a student at CI, you will have access to a customized degree audit that we call the CI Academic Requirements Report, or CARR. This report outlines everything you need to complete your degree at Channel Islands. It outlines your general education requirements; graduation and unit requirements; major and minor requirements… You can run your CARR from your Student Center within myCI. After you have received notice that your transfer credit has been officially evaluated, you can view your CARR and see exactly where you stand in your degree program.

6 AA-T and AS-T Degrees www.csuci.edu/records-registration
Some of you may be pursuing Associate Degrees for Transfer at your community college. For Records & Registration to apply that degree to your progress at CI, we need to have an Official Transcript from your Community College with the AA-T or AS-T showing as “awarded”. Be aware that if you change your major or add a minor/ major, you will no longer be eligible for the TMC degree plan at CI and will not be guaranteed to graduate within 60 units.
