1 United Kingdom SDGs Reporting Platform
This demonstration will explain some of the website features [There is no sound]

2 We have developed an online tool for reporting UK SDG data
At the Office for National Statistics, we have the responsibility for measuring and reporting UK progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) global indicators We have developed an online tool for reporting UK SDG data Our tool is open source, so it is free for other countries to reuse Here, we will give you an overview of what our website can give users To start, users are presented with the Home page… Press any key to continue…

Press any key to continue… There are seven menu options… Goals Default menu - shows the Home Page Reporting Status Shows how many indicators have data About Information about our work with SDGs Publications Links to all our SDGs related publications Guidance Advice about using and reproducing the site FAQ Common questions about the site Accessibility Allows users to switch between contrast levels for reading ease

5 The Reporting Status shows the number of indicators for which we have data
The figures are shown in number and bar format Number Bar This is also broken down for each Goal we have data for 13 indicators (93%) we are looking at data for 1 indicator (7%) Press any key to continue…

For example, a search for the word “forest” finds three indicators in two Goals The search facility allows users to look for data using key words “Smoking” is not quoted in any indicator but we have added it as a relevant keyword So, a search finds the appropriate indicator Press any key to continue…

7 The home page shows the 17 Goals, which all act as buttons
Users can choose to look at data for any Goal by clicking or pressing the relevant icon

Once the user has chosen a Goal, they will see all its indicators laid out in a grid Each indicator will show whether we: - have data, - are working on data, or - are looking for data To see the statistics, the user just selects the appropriate indicator Press any key to continue…

The indicator page has five areas of interest… Image reduced for demonstration purposes Additional information Any relevant information about the data for the indicator is shown here Chart or Table or Map display Users can choose to display the data as a chart, a table, or a map (if one is available) The data defaults to UK headline data in a chart, where applicable Data filtering options Users can choose any available sub-categories (disaggregations) Some options are only available if others have been chosen already Download options Metadata and Sources Press any key to continue…

Looking more closely at how the Sub-categories options work… The chart shows headline data by default All available sub-categories are accessible on the left of the screen The user can open any of the drop-down lists to see the options available The data for whichever options are chosen will be displayed on the chart Sub-categories can be toggled off and on using the chart legend The ‘Clear all’ button switches off all the disaggregations in any sub-category

11 The data can be displayed as a table instead of a chart…
The table is sorted by headline data, by default Users can choose to sort the table according to a selected sub-category by clicking the column heading Press any key to continue…

12 If the data is available as a map, the option will be displayed

Users can choose to download the data. Either: the data used for the chart or table, or the entire source data Press any key to continue…

The bottom of the page displays the background information data users might need… There is national metadata giving information specific to the UK data If the user has access to the development area of the site, they will have the option to edit the data and/or metadata. (This menu option is not available on the public-facing area of the site.) There is global metadata giving information about the UN definitions for the indicator The source(s) of the UK data are listed Press any key to continue…
