3 Annotating: Underling
Underline Relevant Information While reading informational texts (i.e., textbooks, reference books, etc.) read carefully to identify information that is relevant to the reading task. Relevant information might include: · A central concept or idea · Evidence · Definitions · Explanations · Descriptions · Data/Statistics

4 Annotating: write Write
1. · A one-sentence summary in the margin for each paragraph. 2. · A summary for the entire article on a separate sheet of paper.

5 Weekend homework Aretha Franklin’s Dirge
1. You will write a one-page dirge to be read at Aretha Franklin’s in-class funeral Monday August 20, 2018. 2. Your dirge is to be submitted via schoology.com 8/19/2018 by 11:59pm. 3. Please print your dirge and have it ready to be read in class Monday.

Directions 1. Your dirge must be in Times New Roman 12pt font 2. Your dirge must contain at least 4 facts about Aretha Franklin 3. It does not have to rhyme or be written in paragraph form 4. Be creative 5. Lyrics from her songs are welcome but do not overdue it 6. Ask your parents/guardians for help and me if you get stuck 7. Be respectful!!!!
