3 Highlights from 2016-2017 (Standards and Quality Report)
Supportive Parent Partnership in place – consultation with stakeholders regarding Visible Learning, Rights Respecting Schools, Homework and Pupil Equity Funding. Huge progress made in relation to developing children's understandings of Global Citizenship / Rights Respecting Schools. Positive link with Rwanda. Continued focus on learning dispositions. Links with Challenging Learning have raised the school profile as we have hosted International visitors. RWI at P3&4 has impacted positively on children’s progress in reading. The Library has improved, both the physical environment and book lending. The Big Writing Programme has up-skilled teachers and ensured that there is a clear skills progression ad assessment framework in place. More staff have trained in use of SEAL. SEAL allows fluid groupings, children accessing appropriate levels of support and challenge. Children have opportunities to access learning in a variety of contexts – P5 and P7 camp, P6 bushcraft, P3 Farm to Fork, P6 bikeability. Developing use of Lucid Lass to build a Learners’ Profile – supports the identification of dyslexia.

Numeracy and Maths To raise attainment in Numeracy and Maths Literacy and English To raise attainment in Literacy and English (Reading and Writing) Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Moderation To develop learning and teaching practices (through Outstanding Teacher Intervention) impact on learners. To develop assessment frameworks/practices that support staff understanding of achievement of a level. To continue to focus on learning dispositions and feedback to improve learners’ mindset, engagement and attainment. Wellbeing, Inclusion & Nurture Building Community To build positive relationships with parents/carers through increasing engagement To support learners with Additional Support Needs effectively ensuring they are ‘Ready to Learn’ and make progress  Close the Gap Pupil Equity Funding Youth Worker X2 Youth Worker to support group work, activities, extra-curricular activities, alternative curriculum etc. as directed by need. A focus on attendance, parental engagement and pupils’ wider achievement. Development of ‘nurturing’ spaces in school Change previous HT room into a space with a cooker/kitchen area. Also soft seating sensory play etc. Current tutorial room changed to environment with soft seating, sensory, storage (play therapy base and drop-in) Internal street – creation of learning hubs (blinds for windows). Nurturing playgrounds – development of grounds. Play Therapy Drop-In (From Easter 2018) Opportunities to access drop-in service for therapeutic ‘play.’ Signposting to Play Therapy Sessions (below) Play Therapy Sessions Identified children access 1-1 Play Therapy Sessions. Filial Therapy if appropriate. Read, Write Inc Training Staff trained in approaches to the inquisition of phonics / early reading skills Learning Assistant / Additional Support for Learning Teacher Targeted support 1-1 / small group Targeted support in Literacy and Numeracy (early reading, SEAL, motor skills, PMP). Supporting link between home and school.
