3 Learning modules to brush up on your ultrasound techniques
If you don’t have time to retrieve the patient’s info from the worklist (ie, if you didn’t have time to place the order in EPIC before scanning), you can enter it retroactively before you end your exam by clicking the patient icon while scanning. Tap SCAN to bypass patient info and begin scanning Tap SELECT to select probe and preset (ie, FAST, cardiac, vascular, etc) Tap ENTER to enter patient information/select patient from worklist

4 Worklist and Query buttons
How to scan a patient First, enter an order in EPIC (Ultrasound ED Bedside) At ultrasound machine, tap “ENTER” to access the patient information window. Click “Worklist” or “Query” to pull up the worklist If you don’t see the patient on the worklist, click “Update” Select your patient Worklist and Query buttons

5 You can also manually enter patient information.
Type the MRN in the “Accession” space. Patient information can be manually entered at any time by clicking the “Patient” icon in the upper left corner Tap “Patient” anytime during exam to add patient info Green button slides Keyboard back down. Then click “Done” to start scanning.

6 Save still image Save video clip Tap to change transducers and presets
Tap to review saved images and clips Scanning modes are on the left side of the screen. -2D is what you start on, just showing the grayscale image of what you are scanning -M-Mode: Motion mode shows a graphical representation of motion in the tissue over time. This is what you should use to measure fetal heart rates! -Doppler: Power doppler measures velocity in a specific area between two gates. Please do not use this on fetal hearts, as this concentrates more thermal energy on the developing heart than M-mode does. -Color doppler: Color representation of flow towards and away from the probe Image adjustment -Depth: either slide the dial or tap the desired depth on the scale to the right of the image. Aim to include the entire area of interest but adjust the depth so you don’t waste the bottom of the screen -Gain: Slide the horizontal slider to adjust the gain, or brightness. Tapping “Auto” will revert to what the system thinks is the optimal gain setting. Tap to select other controls such as needle guide, labels, probe orientation, etc Save still image Save video clip
